Pickle Pizza Pie. Yes you read that right PICKLE pizza. Meet Julio's Pizza Co. in the Atlantic Highlands - the home of the pickle pizza pie. It's a match made in pizza heaven. A white pizza with thin pickle slices under the cheese. The right amount of pickle for every bite - giving you a little bit of crunch you never knew you needed. You may have never thought of putting the two together, but boy am I happy Julio's Pizza did because it is DELICIOUS.

Julio's Pizza Co. is an adorable pizza spot right on 1st Ave in the Atlantic Highlands. Owned and operated by Brendan and Erin, locals who love pizza. So who’s Julio? He's their dog and their inspiration to open a small family business that serves fresh + familiar food in a friendly setting.

That is EXACTLY what Julio's Pizza Co. is. An inviting little pizza place filled with friendly, smiling faces + delicious pizza. Being a pickle lover, I had to try a pickle pizza slice. After getting hooked I had to go back for more. The next time we stopped in we got a few slices - the classic plain, pickle (I had to), margarita, pepperoni + sausage. All great. Not only is their dough delicious + cooked just right, but their sauce is spot on. I hate when you get a slice with sauce that tastes metallic. That is not the case for Julio's. Our 1 year old devoured the plain slice + I don't blame her because it was one of the best plain slices I have had in a long time.

The pepperoni slice had the perfect little pepperoni slices that cupped + held the pooled oil. But the slice that had me going back for more was the sausage. Tasty sausage that was crumbled over the pizza that was smothered in cheese + their delicious sauce. I had to just eat the sausage on it's own to confirm how delectable + flavorful it is. I'll be getting that slice again!

I am not done with you yet Julio's. I still have to try the Cubano + buffalo chicken slice. They also have subs, salads, empanadas + more. Julio's is barely a year old. They are just getting started + I will be here waiting to see what comes out of that oven next.
